Former BYU defensive lineman Danny Saili has committed to transfer to the Arkansas Razorbacks. Saili, 6-3, 355, went public with his decision on Monday, the second of a two-day official visit with Sam Pittman and the Hogs.

Saili, the Hogs' seventh transfer addition of the spring cycle, is a Topeka (Kan.) native and good friends with Arkansas' other most recent commitment, running back Tyrell Reed of Hutchinson Community College, where Saili became a heavily-recruited target prior to signing with BYU in December of 2023.

Saili entered the transfer portal on April 30 and received new offers from Arizona and Houston before the Razorbacks stepped in and got him on campus for a visit. Saili's two parents and three sisters also joined him on the trip to Fayetteville.

The interior defensive lineman will have two years of eligibility remaining when he officially joins the Hogs later this month. He hopes to spend them improving his chances of playing beyond college.

"There's many reasons (for choosing Arkansas)," Saili said. "First of all, it's SEC Football. That's the highest of high that you can play in college. I want to be developed the right way so I can achieve my dreams. They can help me and I can help them ultimately at the end of the day.

"I think there is no other conference in this country that can prepare you for anything like the SEC. The SEC is going to get you right for the NFL and that's just what I need."

Arkansas' defensive scheme also attracted Saili to Fayetteville.

"The defensive scheme and how the defensive line gets to go out there and show their talents. They are out there to make plays and that's what really attracted me here."

"I saw that none of them left in the transfer portal. Which really shows how good the room is. They are close enough to push each other and close enough not to leave. So I want to be part of that. I'm just excited to be a part of it."

Here's more on Saili from BYU's official website:

In 2023, had 21 total tackles, four sacks and 7.5 tackles for loss

Arkansas landed a commitment from BYU transfer defensive lineman Danny Saili, he announced on Monday afternoon

The 6-foot-3, 355 pound native of Topeka, Kansas, transferred to the Cougars by way of Hutchinson Community College, where Arkansas running back signee Tyrell Reed also came from.

Saili was named to 2023 Jayhawk Conference First Team for racking up 21 tackles, four sacks and 7.5 tackles for loss. He flipped his commitment from Texas Tech to BYU back in December and he hit the portal again on May 1 after spending the spring with the Cougars.

"Yeah [Saili] is going to be a guy that's going to be on the field," BYU head coach Kalani Sitake said this spring. "We've gotta get him in playing shape, but we're starting to see a lot of the big guys doing a lot of good things."

Saili will provide much-needed depth on the interior of Arkansas' defensive line. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
