Two men thought to be Americans groveled for mercy on the ground as they were surrounded by government forces after a failed coup in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The Congolese government said three US citizens had been arrested after a shootout in the capital Kinshasa overnight on Sunday.
Reports in local media suggested the arrested men were CIA operatives although the US ambassador in Kinshasa was keen to distance the US from any involvement.

The DR Congo military on Sunday said it had thwarted an 'attempted coup' near the offices of President Felix Tshisekedi in Kinshasa involving 'foreigners and Congolese'.
It happened in the early hours of the morning outside the residence of Economy Minister Vital Kamerhe, in the Gombe area in the north of the capital, near the Palais de la Nation that houses the president's offices, a spokesman said.
'An attempted coup d'etat has been stopped by the defense and security forces,' said General Sylvain Ekenge in a message broadcast on national television.

Sorry, why does our government care who runs that place

Doubtful, that’s not how CIA operates. They’d have trained local fighters, they wouldn’t have American boots on the ground that early on.

If true, history is just repeating itself from 60 years ago.

As much as I dislike some of the operations of the CIA, I hate to see Americans captured. The decision makers need their asses locked up.

Must be some mistake. The CIA has assured us that they don't DO such things.

Good. Why are we over there? Congolesens should worry about Congo and Americans should worry about America

Hopefully they are taken out. The entire CIA needs to be dealt with for the chaos they have caused in the world!

US Ambassador to Congo Lucy Tamlyn’s quote below. This don’t sound good for these boys. They are as good as dead.
quote:
I am shocked by the events of this morning and very concerned by reports of American citizens allegedly involved. Please be assured that we will cooperate with the DRC authorities to the fullest extent as they investigate these criminal acts and hold accountable any U.S. citizen involved in criminal acts.

Those NOCs are about to be introduced to cleavers and blow torches for a few years.
And probably deserve it. If any of those pussies still honored their oath they'd be making their chain of command and the kid frickers in DC disappear instead of playing GI Joe in African shite holes.

I don't know if this was the CIA or not. It very well could be and it wouldn't surprise me, but believing anything officials from Congo say would be quite stupid. One of the most corrupt countries in a continent full of corrupt countries.
