Plus by going home and home UGA gets another ever other year recruiting game with an SEC rival.

And the game loses all meaning on the national landscape.
All of it.
100% irrelevant.
As important nationally as UGA vs GT or UGA vs Auburn. Hint... nobody else gives a frick.

But split the fans 50/50 in Jacksonville, and the game becomes a national broadcast.
The game becomes a bucket list item.
The game grows new fans.
And rewards loyal fans in S Georgia.

I disagree.
And since we are discussing game changes. Since when is UGA vs GT a nationally important game? No one I know thinks this. I know you were being sarcastic but unless you are interested in watching 37 GT nerds flipping you a double bird it’s a boring game that means nothing except an easy win for UGA. The only issue UGA has in playing them is trying to keep motivated - and awake. GT should come off Georgias schedule ASAP. Replace them with a high profile team or help out Ga Southern, Ga State or Mercer get some needed attention by playing them in Athens. All would offer better competition and bring more of their fans to the game than GT

It isn't nationally relevant because it is home and home "like every other game".

That is exactly my point.
UGA vs Florida has carried the 3:30 prime spot with the best broadcast team because it is a nationally relevant game. Even in the 90s when UGA sucked. Even in the 2010s-2020s when Florida sucks.

UGA gives up 1 day every other year for on campus recruiting (which is no longer a big deal with all of the money floating around NIL)(edit to add: uga technically doesnt give this up because we never really had this day previously. We have always been in Jax). And UGA receives national TV attention. And the gametime atmosphere receives bucket list excitement.

In a sport that is losing traditions faster than Dabo's testosterone levels, it is important to embrace Jacksonville and the week-long activities which have prevailed for over a half century.

Biggest reason to keep the game in Jacksonville, IMO.

Kirby is right. We are missing a prime recruiting day

lol

Every other year the game is in Gainesville. So you're talking about 1 extra weekend over a 24-month stretch of recruiting we'd get to host recruits on campus opposed to what we already have. Big whoop. And let's not pretend our recruiting is hurting now anyway. Especially with this shittarded NIL era, kids want to go where the money is; having 1 extra wekend to go to Sanford isn't going to move the needle much on a recruiing class.

the university and athens are missing another big payday

I don't know how to break this to you...but the University makes more money wiht the game in Jax than it would otherwise. JAx pays out the arse to keep the game there, and obviously every other year the game would be in GAinesville as mnentiond. We get a fat paycheck every year, opposed to getting 1 extra home game of ticket sales every other year. That's ridiciulous argument for a chance.

A poll taken a year or so ago showed that something like 70% of Georgia fans want the game moved so you are in the minority. Move it!

lol I'm sure that was very formal. Polling the soccer moms on facebook or asking people in athens doesn't have much bearing on teh topic. I'm sure if you conducted a poll from tailgates around the stadium in Jax on gameday 70% would say to keep it there.

Lamest excuse I have heard for moving the game from Jax. UG recruiting really appears to be suffering because of this.

I would love to see the mutts in Gainesville, but the WLOCP is a tradition.

We don't have a lot of traditions left in college football, so I vote we hold on to this one.

I hope it stays in JAX forever. It's absolutely my favorite SEC game that Bama doesn't play in. Even if it's one-sided on occasion.
