It’s just another step in the isolation of people from their “community”.

Not everybody needs that shite as much as others. If you need more interaction, you should go look for it but forcing others to do it is really stupid and will never work. Those days are long gone.

Humans are social creatures. Our society had already been shedding traditional places of community before the pandemic (work, church, shopping, school are examples). The pandemic accelerated all of this and will have implications on our health as a society. I get plenty of all this, but I lived decades as an adult prior to the advent of WFH, online school, Amazon, and American families abandoning church. It’s not healthy for people to spend so much time alone.

For some but I really can be happy either way but for some reason I just prefer to work from home.

It could be that I'm an app developer and I just don't spend a lot of time work-socializing. We do meet but not generally more than 30 minutes a day. Plus, we're scattered over the country. We meet up in person for a week once a year or so.

I am friendly to people when I go out. I don't generally avoid people. I just prefer not to work in an office around others. We don't get shite done when we do.
