What work from home has ruined?

Most corporate office grunts are at a minimum on some sort of hybrid schedule these days in places this was unheard of before Covid. Most look at this as a perk, but it is ruining society and structure. Examples I see:
Nobody has work relationships anymore. When I say relationships, I mean colleagues as you progress through the grind you become ‘friends’ with. I’m not sure who the younger generation will ever use as references in the future.
Jobs you stayed at because you liked the people you worked with and it paid off.
‘Lunch with the boys’ is dead. No more killing time with the boys while talking about the new hot secretary over lunch.
Social life and more importantly social skills are vanishing. No more walking down the hall or having a kitchen conversation with others to collaborate unplanned.
Work/social events. Ping pong tourneys, trivia, potlucks.
Lovebirds in the office. Most marriages used to be between people who met at work. Who doesn’t miss figuring out what trendy outfit you were going to wear on casual Friday to look cool in front of ‘ol Lacy?
I could go on and on, but more important than that is what is happening to people that all of a sudden have zero structure:
-alcoholics
-divorces
-porn addicts
-don’t know how to dress in public
-no social skills
-no real career
-video game addicts
-streaming services
All this just makes me sad, OT. The younger generation needs to be put in their place and realize what’s best for them. This is BabyTac…talk to me!

Nice work. Now quickly log back into fareplay and make a thread stating the opposite.

I enjoy not being around lazy and idiotic people. I get way more done now.
Plenty of places to socialize.

Good, I don't like most of them that much

If you need to go to an office 5 days a week to have some self control / not have your life fall apart, i'm sorry for you

Job specific feedback makes problem solving much more effective, and small talk keeps my energy up. Without those things, I’d be bored as hell.

OP you sound like youve been indoctrinated by corporate brainwashing BS.. either that, or you own too much stock in commercial real estate/office space…. This will not end well for you, nor should it.. im thankful that your type of thinking is dying out .. btw you sound 85 years old .

Inb4 all the anti social folks coming in to say how much of their time their worthless coworkers wasted

I still do all of the things you mentioned but I’m a rare millennial that hates work from home. I like to separate home and work and having my big screens in my nice quiet office.
If I still worked in a cubicle farm I’d think different

I wanted to get a work from home job but I didn’t have a vax card or a vasectomy card

We get that you derive your entire identity from making Mr. Shekelstein richer, but some of us actually WORK and don’t show up to some overpriced commercial office space to socialize and “be seen” so that we can feel good about ourselves.

Not all younger generation folk want to screw off all day working from home. Have a friend whose son just quit his remote job for an office job so he would have more opportunity for mentorship and interaction with more senior engineers.

None of that sounds fun and much of it seems forced
I enjoy lunch in my office just fine
ETA: I think you're the first person I've ever heard that enjoys potlucks
ETA2: I bet you like doing "icebreakers" too

as a C suite executive, you should put an end to the nonsense

I don't know about all that I just feel that if I have to get up and go to work each day than everyone else should have to as well.

You're really concerned about this? lol

Sorry you don't have a social life outside of work, some of us do and we don't go to work to make friends.

This has been dead since the sexual harassment revolution took place in the 90s.
There are other wrinkles to it now, too.
Contractors on my site are forbidden to have marriages between people working on the same types of thing because one particular couple fricked it up.
Apparently they separated then wifey started fricking one of the other women at the site.
No pictures because I don’t have them.

This is not a generational thing.
I'm in my 50's and don't really give a frick about the company I work at or the people I work with and I don't think they should give a frick about me beyond what we each bring to the table at work.
I would have this same attitude about any other company I would get a job at. If they do well, that's great and same if they don't.
I go to work strictly to make money not socialize. I don't get anything for the ego doing my work. I do development work and I enjoy that to some degree but if I got fired, I wouldn't give a shite. I'd just go find another job.
But, with this attitude, I do what I'm told unless it's something that can get me in serious trouble. I never argue with bosses or even co-workers.
I have none of those issues you listed because of my attitude towards work.
I drink because I fricking love it. I did drink more working in an office though.
I love porn. Always have even when I worked in a fricking office.
Dressing in public? Nobody gives a shite about that anymore.
No social skills? Not my problem.
etc.
