So you are required to purchase an alcohol package in addition to the normal cruise price? That seems like a total racket.

I don’t drink alcohol, would I be forced to buy the alcohol package anyway?

Clearly, I have never been on a cruise

You can just go to any bar and get drinks all day, but the drinks range from $8-$16 depending if you want beer to a mixed drink, and a tip is added every time. Then drink package for carnival is like $60/day per person in the room. I’m okay with $60 cause that’s a few mixed drinks throughout the day, but I wouldn’t want to pay $120 a day knowing my wife can’t drink any of it

No, not at all. Some cruises line are different but generally they'll include coffee, tea, water, etc at no additional charge but alcohol is extra. They offer different packages rather than paying drink by drink bur many of them (Royal Caribbean for example) would require all adults in the same cabin to get equivalent packages to deter couples from splitting just one package.
