People really have no room to flame you guys for losing to the champ. And barely at that.
And I love to flame you guys

UConn was clearly the best team the last 2 years. All those double digit wins. By March, they were the best both years, and all year last season.

why does it matter how many conferences there were?
Simple:
Everybody screamed "it should be decided on the field".
So, when teams AREN'T even given the chance to compete, that request is never truly answered.

I like the setup.
Win conference get a bye
The way it SHOULD be.

My thing is why half arse it, just go to a super conference with real oversight before the irrevocably harm the sport.

"best team wins when it matters..."
Unless of course its Bama, who thinks they are the best team anyway, even when they get bullwhipped....they just blame it on injuries.

Here is where you are wrong. NIL and the transfer portal have changed the landscape. There are more teams that are being competitive. If things are the same in the next couple of years, there will be more teams getting top players and will have depth to compete with current top teams. This is slowly becoming like the NFL.

How will a Big 12 team that wins the conference championship be worthy of a bye? They aren't really worthy of being ranked in the top 10 since both Texas and OU will be joining the SEC this coming season.

Yes.
Little big 12 champ deserves bye.
They come out on top by winning.
.now a runner up from where ever will take them on in a qtr
Boom
Best team win but don't assume

The SAME was said about XII, ACC, B1G, PAC, & (I'm sure SEC).

Usually 4 is plenty. But now with more parity due to NIL, 8 is fine. >8 is too much and not necessary but it will bring in more money I suppose.
8 would’ve been perfect. But the powers to be saw a peak at projected revenue from 12 and couldn’t help themselves.

Missouri has a ton of returning production talent for 2024 @ 71% which is not good news for their opponents.
