you don’t need a feed to get catcher set up

We might be able to tell that rest position with the leg kicked out means there no runners on base. That way DVH knows to call off the bunt

by the way, what did Michigan Football just get in trouble for?
What has Venables been accused of?
On that topic, I think a lot is made of stealing signs of an opposing offense.. but what about the defense? Knowing if a defense is going to blitz would be a pretty big advantage.. knowing zone or man would be as well.. what about a spy? a cover 2? a cover 3?
If a team is stealing offensive signs.. you can bet they are stealing defensive signs as well.
As for how that relates to baseball?
I have never really thought about it before, but just as a pitcher tips pitches, I wonder if a catcher does as well. Perhaps he lowers a knee on breaking pitches in anticipation of having to block a ball.. Perhaps he holds his glove differently for fastballs..
It's certainly possible. Has anyone read anything or seen anything about studying a catcher to try and learn the pitch? I don't think this is what a live video feed would provide, but I guess it is possible.
