OVERVIEW ON THE OSPREYS
North Florida enters the matchup with a 1-1 record on the season after splitting a Friday doubleheader at home against Delaware last weekend. In those two contests, the Ospreys hit .291/.382/.455 as a team while pitching to a 5.06 ERA with 18 strikeouts against nine walks in 16 innings. Last season, UNF went 28-27 (13-17 ASUN), which featured a 20-13 record at home and 8-14 road mark.

MIDWEEK MAGIC
Last season, Florida went 11-2 in midweek games. The Gators carry an active, nine-game midweek winning streak into Tuesday's matchup at UNF.

NON-CON DOMINANCE
The Gators went 22-3 across 25 regular-season non-conference games in 2023. Florida's streak of 13-consecutive regular season non-con wins was snapped last Friday night vs. St. John's.

FRESHIE START
Arriving as the No. 34 recruit nationally, right-handed pitcher Liam Peterson dazzled in fall and spring practice to grab hold of Florida's Saturday starter job. From 2022-23 at Calvary Christian, Peterson delivered a 10-2 record, 1.28 ERA and 141 strikeouts in 76 2/3 innings - good for a 16.6 K/9. Peterson will start Tuesday's contest at UNF after having his debut washed out over the weekend.

Good to get that first W of the year, and to have a freshman pitcher step up like Peterson did.

Gators win 10-0 in 7 innings

No. 4 Florida used a 14-hit barrage backed by a two-hitter on the mound to defeat North Florida, 10-0, in seven innings at Harmon Stadium on Tuesday night.

The story of the matchup for the Orange & Blue was the collegiate debut of freshman right-hander Liam Peterson, who dazzled with seven strikeouts across three innings to earn the win in his first-career start. At the plate, Cade Kurland (4-for-5) led the way with a career-high four hits while scoring four runs. Jac Caglianone (2-for-3) also connected on his first long ball of the year and produced a team-high four RBI.
