I dont know what it is about her other than she feels forced as a hot, desert wandering fighter.
She always brings that sarcastic, nihilistic, I don’t give a frick attitude to every character she plays and I thought it was out of place for Chani

To me, there was something “off” with most of the movie. The first one felt much more like and artistic masterpiece, this one felt more dumbed down and “hollywood”.
Still good enough for me to enjoy, but sort of a let down in a few ways.

Prefacing this with I’ve only seen the two movies, have only just started reading the books:
In the cinematic version, Chani is pretty clearly set up as a foil to Irulan as we move forward. Hence Irulan kept getting intermittent screen time around Chani and Paul’s relationship development.
Chani is the Ygritte to Irulan’s Dani. It’s not a “girl boss” thing, it’s a “love triangle that will affect the politics of the universe for Part 3” thing. I’m exhausted by female leads being bitchy just because they’re bitchy (see True Detective S4) but it felt like her skepticism was warranted in the beginning, her love for Paul in the middle was well conveyed, and her pain in the end when he lost her trust was earned. Idk how she was supposed to have been portrayed in some of yalls minds that fits the plot and setting?
Overall, really enjoyed it (and agree with whoever said this is the kind of movie you are meant to buy a ticket and see in theaters. Hair stood on end for the majority of the third act). This is a modern epic in an era when we thought they couldn’t be made with the same majesty anymore. It’s well worth seeing in real time and I’m hopeful that a Part 3 is going to round out a quality trilogy that we also thought wouldn’t be made after LOTR. Came away from it feeling like in an MCU world, good blockbusters do in fact still remain.
The cinematography capturing Feyd on the Harkonnen world was absolutely stunning. Can’t help but feel like Denis indirectly pointed out what the Sith world could have/should have been in SW…

agree with this. they thought they were being cute in spiderman, but i felt like she's made that her whole persona since then and it's off putting.
there's not a lot of stars i'll go see because they're in something (Tom Cruise, Chris Pratt, etc.) but she's doing nothing to be endearing.
