He's starting to intrigue me.
He looks like he's throwing 70mph and yet it's triple digits.

Just like Skenes. Skenes made throwing 100 MPH look effortless. Foutch is the same way.

No Diggs, rejoice! Guessing he gets all week off again to rest that shoulder. Perfectly fine with that if it means he's 100% when it matters.

Hunter Dietz done for the season per DVH presser... Was hoping different.

Did he say anything specific? Last I heard was no damage but likely done for the year as precaution.

Big Fish injured as well. Carter hasn't rebounded from injury very well.
And so it begins.
Frick you Frank and your curse!
You should've kicked the FG in '69

Diggs is something else right now. Man.
The year our lineup needs him most too.

I’ve touched on this at several points this season, but his plate approach is absolutely horrendous this year. It’s the same every. single. at bat.
Watches strike 1.
Watches strike 2.
Next pitch is always either a ball or fouled off.
Next pitch is a swinging strike (most often chased low but sometimes swung under) for strike 3.
He’s 100% a guess hitter at this point, and I don’t see him turning it around this late in the season given how lost he is. Maybe this is just one of those “throw it in the trash and get ‘em next year” seasons.
In SEC games he’s slashing .190 / .284 / .369. For reference, John Bolton slashed .186 / .333 / .229 in SEC games last year.

Slash lines on the season for our 4 catchers -
White - .243/.344/.355 (.699 OPS)
Polk - .150/.280/.300 (.580 OPS)
Helfrick - .164/.324/.364 (.688 OPS)
Rowland - .250/.441/.333 (.774 OPS)
SEC play only -
White - .268/.349/.304 (.653 OPS)
Polk - .000/.000/.000 (.000 OPS)
Helfrick - .200/.273/.550 (.823 OPS)
Rowland - .125/.364/.250 (.614 OPS)
Fielding % -
White - .994
Polk - 1.000
Helfrick - .993
Rowland - .969
Caught Stealing / Attempts
White - 3/18
Polk - 0/0
Helfrick - 5/11
Rowland - 1/11
Mostly did this stat compilation for myself. I was curious how much ground Rowland had made up on White. Seems like Rowland has been…..better…. As of late and White has been slipping. Really not a huge difference between Rowland, White, and Helfrick anymore. Helfrick hitting the absolute piss out of the ball keeps him an interesting DH option as well.

This is one of the reasons I’m fine with Helfrick every time he’s penciled into the lineup.
Despite his average, he hits the absolute shite out of the ball whenever he makes contact, and when you hit the ball hard good things will eventually happen (hence the focus in recent years on exit velo).
