He ran for 63 on 21 carries. This includes sacks, probably half of which were on his poor pocket presence and inability to pickup a blitz
I don’t think that outweighs being unable to throw for 115+ yards

Now imagine with how Justice was looking that he got 21 carries instead.
It's just a mess, and I truly hope Bama never signs another "raw" "athlete" and try try try to turn them into a QB. It's not fair to anyone- especially a kid that does everything the right way attitude wise like JM, and Bama has too many guys depending on the QB to help get them to the NFL. It's not a position these semi pro teams have time to dick around with. You have a mess at QB next thing you know the WR Corp transfers and you can't recruit any skill players.
We saw WRs pissed off with Hurts - we see WRs pissed off with JM... just sign a fricken pure QB. This is Bama not georgia tech.

Milroe is fast as a deer and he’s super strong. He just has zero awareness on when and where to tuck it and go.
Fumbles a lot too.

8 of his carries were 6 sacks for -49 yards and 2 errant snaps for -20
13 actual carries for 132 yards. That’s a pretty impressive output considering his longest run was only 18 yards. You can safely attribute at least some of the sacks to him but not all of them

Of course not. Passing threat is waaaaaaay more important than being a running threat. But the topic was “is Milroe actually a running threat?”

Man, we get that you think Milroe is not a good QB, but we are far, far from "a mess" with him taking snaps. I mean, have you just mentally blocked out all of the good(great at times) things that he did last season? We are all well aware that he has things he needs to improve on, but you are acting like this guy shouldn't be playing QB at all at the college level.
He improved throughout last season, and while the Rose Bowl was rough, he was playing against the best defense in the nation, and nearly the entire team got outplayed and outcoached. It happens. It happened with Tua against Clemson.
And you are disparaging him in favor of a dude that has never started 1 single college football game.
Both Milroe and Simpson had a good spring, and they are transitioning into this new system nicely as it seems.
DeBoer is going to play the QB that gives us the best chance to win, plain and simple. There is zero evidence to suggest otherwise. I don't understand the hand-wringing over this. Why not just see what happens? The coaches know what they are doing infinitely more than all of us. Let's chill.

Maybe, but most other QB'S would have fielded some of those snaps he let get by him. Not to mention some of the snaps that came while he wasn't ready were because he and the center weren't on the same page, which didn't seem to be a problem the year before.
I'm sure Milroe will be better this year. But, if he didn't play for the most talented team in the country, you wouldn't recognize his name today. If he was at Purdue and sitting at 5-6, his mediocre stats and piss poor understanding of the game would look as mediocre as they are and nobody would be talking about Heisman trophies.
Give me a QB that recognizes a blitz, has pocket awareness, and knows where the open man should be rather than waiting 6 seconds for someone to outrun and get behind the defense.
But, I hope he's better and we win.

More room for error with the expanded playoff.
Hope we don't give any games away though with questionable personnel decisions.

The greatest coach in the history of college football history chose Jalen Milroe as QB last year and arguably the best, at least one of the best, offensive minds currently in college football is seriously considering starting Jalen at QB this year. Yet, a significant minority of the fan base are convinced that Saban and Deboer are either cowards or fools if they do so. Some even invent conspiracy theories to support their position. And some Alabama fans wonder why others view them as they do.

Not putting anyone else at center.

My attitude is that there’s almost no point in arguing about Milroe because there are so many pros and cons on both sides of the equation. He’s an enigma who went from needing to be benched against Texas to looking like a potential future NFL MVP to end the regular season to regressing against UM/UGA.
Pros:
-outstanding locker room guy
-ended the season with a top 5 passer rating
-1st time working with an elite OC
-1st time working with an elite QB developer
-working with his 3rd OC and system
-showed massive improvement last year
-has a huge arm
-elite speed
-played behind shaky line with bad snaps
-NFL 1st rd ceiling
Cons:
-middle school level footwork
-erratic downfield passer
-can’t setup pass pro
-can’t run RPO read effectively
-can’t run UW passing offense
-his floor is really low if they can take away the easy passes
My point in all of this is to say that reasonable people can love him while being utterly frustrated with his development all within the same game.
I have infinitely more faith in DeBoer to figure out where he’s at and if he’s the best option for us next year than I did with previous OCs and suggest we all just let it play out.
I’m also excited to have a legit option in Ty Simpson who I think could start for most teams in the SEC.

Sticking with Golding for too long. Hiring BOB and especially Marrone who was unquestionably absolute trash

Lmao is this a joke? Did you watch the Arkansas, Tenn, LSU or Auburn games? He was far from stellar against LSU through the air and they were so bad in the secondary last year. A lot of our fans are disillusioned by 4th and 31.
I’m saying this as someone who wants to see Milroe succeed too, but cmon, let’s not fool ourselves. We needed rock solid defensive play a lot last year in part to him not being able to consistently move the chains.
I do think he’s made a lot of progress under DeBoer though. He threw some really nice balls during ADay. As did Simpson. I have full confidence either could get the job done this season (assuming the defense doesn’t regress big time; that’s a big TBD with CNS gone).

That could be the story of this year, not the QB.
The defense was running pure vanilla but I think we all agree we don’t really know.

I mean future NFL MVP was obvious hyperbole, but yes I watched the Arkansas, Tenn, and LSU, and Auburn games, and he was good enough in those games for the most part, especially the LSU game, second half of the Tenn game, first half of the Arky game, and for most of the AU game.
