Lane will stay right where he is until the GOAT steps down and then he gets the keys to title town!

Why would anybody worth a shite want to coach at Bama after Saban? Some toothless sidewalk gump will throw a brick through his window after a playoff loss, or poison the grass in his front yard because he went 10-2. It’s a no win situation.

What everyone needs to acknowledge is that the rules have changed. The portal and NIL have leveled the playing field to a huge extent. What will make the difference now is having the right coach and staff in place. The SEC will continue to be the toughest league for the forseeable future. So, basically, the balance of power in the SEC is up for grabs as it never was before. Some teams that have done well over time will likely continue to do so. But others will be able to enter the picture as never before. I fully expect at least four SEC teams to make the 2024 playoffs. Four would have made it this year, and I don't see those four backsliding next year. Biggest mistake in this new era: the Big 10+ spreading itself all over the country, thinking that will enable it to rival the SEC. I see it remaining top-heavy as a result whereas I don't see that for the SEC.

Lane will either make a deep run & leverage it to take a bigger job or he’ll fail & run to keep from getting into a multi year failure stretch. He’s getting a NC somewhere & OM gets him for one run. 2024.

Our recruiting class is ranked in the top 25 which is where we usually are. He's just plugging some holes with portal guys

I think Lane had his fill of a high pressure job with USC. Remember USC had the most restrictive sanctions since Miami and USC still fired Kiffin. Kiffin didn't deserve to be fired under those circumstances. Why take the Bama job if you're Kiffin?

Resources, rep, momentum. Do they even have to recruit?

Once Saban leaves Bama's recruiting will come back to Earth. It will still be top 10 most likely but likely won't be top 3 every year.

Maybe I’m crazy, but I think OM is going to break through and win the NC next year.

It’ll be the ultimate eye opener that college football has become nothing but a test of which alumni base can part with the most money. Ole Miss was just smart enough to do it big in the new normal. Pretty soon, other schools will dwarf their payments.

But they’ll sneak one in next year.

When you’re a fringe team like old sip you have to work the portal. Nobody wants to go there out of HS.

Don't be surprised if they find an off season championship in there somewhere.

Just so you know, if he were to win big there he would be legendary forever. One magical year. No one gives a frick about 10 years from now. Think what LSU fans would give up for 2019 then extrapolate.

He didn't bother recruiting HS kids too much and is spending all the NIL funds on immediate impact transfers

Ole Miss can't get top level guys out of high school in a world where everyone can openly pay whatever for whoever they want. On an equal playing field backend top 25 HS classes is their ceiling.

They have to be smart and use their NIL money wisely. Ole Miss becomes a perfect destination for guys who either can't quite get on the field early at a premiere program or guys stuck at a mid tier program wasting their talent on a 6-6 team.

Lane and Ole Miss are a perfect match for this era of college football.

Out spending everyone in the country on transfers is easy when you didnt spend any recruiting good high school players

So if you can spend the same NIL dollar on an elite SEC DE with tape proving he can play in the SEC at a high level, would you pass on that to roll the dice and pay a kid that might be good in 2-3 years out of high school?

Kiffin and company have done a great job addressing immediate needs in the portal and supplementing those needs in high school ranks.

Everyone keeps saying Kiffin living and dying with the portal every year is not sustainable, but here we are getting better every year under Kiffin.
