Alabama men's golfer Canon Claycomb finished in second overall to lead the No. 21-ranked Crimson Tide men's golf team to a runner-up finish Monday at The Hayt. As a team, the Tide closed the three-day, 54-hole event with a 1-over par 865 (282-293-290), only four strokes behind No. 1-ranked North Carolina for the team tournament title.

Claycomb led throughout much of the tournament and finished just one shot back of earning his third career medalist honor, closing the event at 2-under par 214. In addition, both Jonathan Griz (T6th, E) and Thomas Ponder (T11th, +1) each finish among the top-12 golfers.

The Crimson Tide earned its third top-three finish and fourth top-five result in six tournaments played this season.

Head Coach Jay Seawell Comments
"After the Watersound Invitational, our guys did a good job regrouping and focusing on playing well this week. They have been positive and enthusiastic about this opportunity and getting to play on this course. I am proud of the way they responded. They've really had two good weeks of practice, and I'm a big believer of if you practice well, you're going to play well. And, I think they did just that so I am happy with the response following our first tournament.
