Arkansas landed its fourth commitment for the Class of 2025 on Saturday when Atlanta (Texas) athlete Markeylin Batton went public with his decision. Batton, 5-9, 170, chose the Razorbacks over Missouri, Texas Tech, Michigan State, Oregon State, Houston and others.

Batton, a cousin of former Hog and NFL great Jason Peters, was recruited to Arkansas by running backs coach Jimmy Smith but could play offense or defense in Fayetteville. As a junior, Batton posted 81 rushes for 610 yards and 9 touchdowns while adding 16 receptions for 255 yards and 4 touchdowns in the passing game. Defensively, he added 17 tackles, 2 pass breakups and 1 forced fumble.

"When I first came up there (in July), it was just great, so I just thought yeah, I'll jump in the boat," Batton said. "Me and Coach (Jimmy) Smith are cool. Real cool. I got an offer for running back, but we really don't know. I can play whatever."

Batton attended the Razorbacks' cookout in late July and was expected to be back in January. He will visit Fayetteville again soon.

"I was supposed to come back up there, but they said something about the junior days being over so I'll have to get back up there in the spring."

According to 247Sports, Batton is a three-star prospect who ranks 54th among all running backs and 97th overall in the state of Texas. The Composite rankings are similar, listing Batton as the No. 52 running back nationally and No. 102 in the Lone Star State.

With his early decision now out of the way, Batton said he and his family have no major plans to celebrate the commitment but is ecstatic to be on board.

"Not really, just chill now," Batton said. "My family is fired up."

In addition to Batton, the Hogs own commitments from three-star quarterback Grayson Wilson of Maumelle (Ark.) Central Arkansas Christian, four-star running back Jamarion Parker of St. Louis (Mo.) Cardinal Ritter, and kicker Evan Noel of Bay St. Louis (Miss.).

Atlanta (Texas) 2025 running back Markeylin Batton has committed to Arkansas, he announced on Friday afternoon.

Batton chose the Razorbacks over offers from Missouri, Texas Tech, Houston, Michigan State and a handful of other programs.

“After great conversation with @FBCoachJSmith I’m blessed to say I’m committed to the University of Arkansas,” he wrote on Twitter.

Batton is the fourth commitment for the Razorbacks in the 2025 cycle, joining four-star running back Jamarion Parker, three-star quarterback Grayson Wilson, and kicker Evan Noel.

In two seasons at the varsity level, Batton has rushed for 1,270 yards and 18 touchdowns, averaging better than 7.5 yards per carry. As a junior this fall, he emerged as a receiving threat though, hauling in 16 catches for 255 yards and four touchdowns.

Batton also stars on defense, where he totaled 17 tackles and a pair of passes defended from his cornerback spot.
