For a team who likely won't be a serious threat to compete until 2024, dropping big money on a defensive tackle who will be declining by then does not seem like a good idea. Jarrett is a very good player but his career timeline does not match the team's rebuild timeline.
I think trading him would have been the smart move.

The Atlanta Falcons are keeping one of their cornerstone defensive players around for the foreseeable future.
The club agreed to a three-year extension with defensive tackle Grady Jarrett on Tuesday, worth up to $17 million per year in new money and $51 million in totality for the extension if he reaches certain incentives, a source confirmed to ESPN. The extension includes $34.5 million guaranteed.
Jarrett is now signed through the 2025 season at a total value of $67 million, including the money he was slated to earn in 2022.
The news was first reported by WSB-TV in Atlanta.

He should have left the sunken ship . Taking on water was a few years ago now it’s a reef for diving tours

It's a good number for the team. I don't think Ridder is Burrow, but Cincy turned it around in a hurry.Rebuilds happen quick in today's NFL.

Also, I read he is Jesse Tuggle son.
If true. How did I not know that? Tuggle is ATL legend. Now his son will be too.
