Why is MiZZOU so much better than us?

Our past winning record over them from 100 years ago doesn’t count. What do they got that we don’t? They steal our best recruits and donkey punch us when we play them. They just matched our best record in my lifetime and beat Ohio State.

Steal our recruits? This has happened once ever and they flipped him with us having a lame duck coach. We routinely poach their roster for talent in the big three sports.
They clearly care about the "rivalry" game more than us. Most years it's the only thing they can hang their hat on in any sport.

Yeah I mean they probably cared more about the Cotton Bowl last night than Ohio State did, but they still had to go out and win the game. If you supposedly don’t care then why even play the games. Maybe that’s our problem we don’t have enough players who care regardless of the opponent every Saturday.

I feel like they have a bit of what we used to have for Texas recruits. We used to be the closest program in the SEC.

There's literally 4 wins at best on that schedule and god knows Sam knows how to lose to FCS teams at home and possibly Vandy.

Yes. If we put the same emphasis on the game that they did the series would be even or maybe in our favor. I’m pretty sure they talk about the game year round. Hell drink goes out of his way to take shots at us. For us the game is no different than the ms schools, barn, ags or lsu. Our kids and fans are usually checked out by the last game.

Drink reminds me a lot of Houston Nutt. He'll have an amazing season every 3-4 years and will win you 7-8 the rest of the time. Also seems to be a very good motivator.

Despite what the recruiting rankings say, we took Jeffcoat from them and expected him to dominate while he could barely get PT last year for them. Meanwhile their DL full of guys we probably wouldn’t take just destroyed Ohio State. They’ve produced really good DL for a long time. Either the rankings are consistently wrong under multiple coaches for them or they just have a knack for finding and developing really good athletes.
