Our boy Wes is tearing it up at Georgia right now.

It's his first year as HC and he's got them 17–1. What do we think about him when DVH finally hangs it up? He's not as divisive as Vitello, and he's very much an Arkansas guy, so maybe there's a chance this is his dream college job. Hell of a pitching coach, it's about time someone gave him a shot.

Little early don't you think? They are 17-1 and unranked as they've played school for the blind 15 times.

Baseball is all I fricking have in this miserable, God-forsaken letdown of an athletic department. And DVH is the oldest HC in the conference. When he finally retires, I fear it's going to be like everything else I love.
So, no. It's not too early to dream good things can happen. How dare you try to sew a seed of doubt.

UGA is probably still going to be really bad, they were predicted what 12th in the conference? Anything above that year 1 is probably pretty good but I don't think they can make the NCAAT.
Wes will need a 2nd and 3rd year before even getting consideration, if it's going well.
And if we're just going to give it to a pitching coach with little HC experience why not stay in house and give it to Hobbs? I think our pitching is more elite under him and he's getting unreal arms in the HS ranks and any time you can pitch you can win.

Why doesn’t Matt Hobbs have a wiki? Seems like that should be basic things to do for all our coaches, assistants and head coaches. Maybe try doing that in between telling us this O Line is about that life now.

I've always wondered exactly who does all those things. It could be any combination of people for something like Taylor Swift or Led Zeppelin, but do small-time university coaches have like a social media person who makes a Wikipedia page or something?
Anyway, Georgia is 21–4, now. Swept #11 Alabama after their disappointing road sweep against Kentucky. I imagine both Kentucky and Georgia'll be in the rankings tomorrow. He really is making some waves for his first year taking over a dismal team.

Not opposed at all to Wes as a HC.
But alas, HY will probably frick that hire up as well.

We have multiple social media people. They should do that. They also have press relations people that head off rumors and things that troll message boards. They should be on top of that. Basically we pay people to do the bare minimum at the UArk… and they some how fail to meet those standards.
But don’t worry they are quick with the twitter updates to ruin the play before it happens on ESPN.

Randomly thought about this thread earlier today in light of Georgia's meteoric rise

It will be interesting to follow Wes at Georgia. That's a job where local talent alone can keep you in the mix. Inheriting a Charlie Condon certainly helps...
