The ladies get smoked in Baton Rouge. Only bright spot is they replace their NQS low road score of 197.125 with 197.325

LSU had a high score of 48.375 or something like that. This score would win you at natty or get you close. Wow

No movement (good or bad) in the NQS. Need a big home score Friday to move the needle.

We seem to recruit with the best of them. What else needs to be done? Are we trying more difficult routines than the others and just not landing them?

From my perspective, the biggest issue is consistency. (Both in performance and judging). One meet every gymnast will score 9.9 on an event and the next meet none will score 9.9 on the same event. Or we may knock it out if the park on one rotation and be marginal on another. Thought this year would be the one for consistent scores with all the super seniors returning. I do think Bama is an elite program once again, just not the best of the best yet.

Sears’ 9.925 on vault was the highest from a SEC freshman not competing in the all-around and was tied for the second-highest of any SEC non-all-around gymnast
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama gymnast Jamison Sears was named the Southeastern Conference Co-Specialist of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
As only a freshman, Sears stepped up as leadoff in Alabama's vault lineup and posted a career-high 9.925 to begin the quad meet for the Crimson Tide. Her score was the highest from a SEC freshman not competing in the all-around and was tied for the second highest of any SEC non-all-around gymnast. Her performance garnered a podium finish inside Coleman Coliseum, as the only gymnast who scored higher was teammate Luisa Blanco who posted a 10.000. Sears and the Crimson Tide went on to post a season-high rotation score of 49.500 en route to Alabama's second 198 team score within the last three weeks.
The No. 7 Alabama gymnastics program travels to Norman, Okla., Sunday night for a 3 p.m. CT contest with the No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners. The top-10 matchup will be aired on ESPN2.

Alabama gymnastics super senior Luisa Blanco has been named one of six finalists for the 2024 AAI Award, as announced by the organization Friday.
The AAI Award, presented by American Athletic, Inc., is given annually to the nation's top senior female gymnast and is widely considered to be the Heisman Trophy of gymnastics. Blanco is joined by Haleigh Bryant of LSU, Audrey Davis of Oklahoma, Maile O'Keefe of Utah, Gabby Wilson of Michigan and Raena Worley of Kentucky as 2024 finalists.
The Crimson Tide has had a gymnast selected as a finalist the last three consecutive years, with Lexi Graber also earning the recognition in 2022 before Blanco's back-to-back nods. Since the award's introduction in 1982, three Alabama gymnasts have won the prestigious honors: Barbara Mack (1985), Penney Hauschild (1986) and Andree Pickens (2002).
Blanco has solidified herself as one of the most decorated gymnasts in Alabama history as a 16-time All-American, an NCAA champion, a four-time Southeastern Conference champion, a 2021 Honda Award for Gymnastics finalist and the 2021 SEC Gymnast of the Year. The Paris Olympics qualifier has also earned over 60 individual event titles and six total perfect 10.0s – four coming on balance beam alone – during her time at UA.
The recipient of the AAI Award will be announced in April during the NCAA Championships in Fort Worth, Texas.

Sunday afternoon gymnastics on ESPN2. Really just need a big road score to improve NQS standing heading into the SEC Tournament.

The No. 7 Alabama gymnastics team will travel to Norman, Okla., to face the top-ranked Oklahoma Sooners (24-0, 4-0 Big 12) in Lloyd Noble Center on Sunday for its final meet of the regular season. The Crimson Tide's sixth meet featuring a top-five ranked opponent will begin at 3 p.m. CT and will air on ESPN2.
Sunday's competition will be the 11th contest for Alabama (12-3-1, 3-3-1 SEC) this season as the Crimson Tide is coming off its third quad-meet victory after capturing its second 198 team score in the last three weeks. Individually, Luisa Blanco highlighted the night, capturing two perfect 10.0 scores on vault and floor exercise – her first career 10 on both events to up her total to six career perfect scores.
