You can get a window A/C unit and a generator that will run it for about $700 total. 4 days in hot, muggy summer Houston weather is no picnic.
I guess there's a reason you haven't done that already.

Good luck, baw. Cypress got it the worst. But The Heights and Memorial aren’t much better. Many friends are still without power.

Houston is hot as hell, even with air conditioning. Can you guys just go down to Galveston for a few days? Or did they get hit as well? The breeze on the coast is the only saving grace for that heat.

My heart goes out to you. South Louisiana gets slammed with hurricanes all the time and we lose power. Hope it gets resolved soon

God Bless y'all over there. Been there, done that. Wish I was younger I'd do like I did for Katrina and Tuscaloosa people and grab my Sons and we'd load down some trailers with generators, gas & diesel, water filters, food and vitamins .... and head your way.
I'm just too old now. It's more about the miles than the years I guess.
From what I am hearing from family in Texas, at least y'all have a major advantage over what NOLA and Tuscaloosa had at the time .... you have a bigger emergency mgt state system in place and you have more financial resources to throw at the various problems.
Hate it for y'all. We have friends who liberally just moved from Idaho to North Houston to live in an assisted living retirement community and we have not been able to get through to them since the storm.

Big thanks, scrooster. There is a large group of lineman working near my house from Jacksonville, FL. Very much appreciated. There are still thousands of downed limbs on power lines.

Edit- I'm in DFW, haven't had power issues since the great winter storm of 2020. (Knocks on all the wood) Even though that was unpleasant for sure, the temps weren't the worst part (we just wore sweatpants and sweaters inside) because we have a generator that provided a few hours of TV, space heater at night and we cooked all the meat in the freezer on a gas grille out back.

Galveston barely got rain on Thursday. As I understand it, no power issues for anyone below downtown actually.

This isn't Mississippi. There is no such thing as a 4-week power outage. A direct hit from a Cat 5 hurricane only gets you 2 weeks at the worst.
